When you stop “shoulding” all over yourself and others
you can fully embrace what is.
― Dana & Wendy, Camp Reinvention
This will be a holiday season like no other… AND you’ll enjoy it a whole lot more when you stop “shoulding” all over yourself and others. In fact, you might even be able to create some new experiences, based on YOUR DESIRES, that live on as tradition for years to come.
Let’s look at some of the ways you may be letting expectations dictate (and perhaps stress out) your holidays…
-
Do you try to create a holiday experience based on what others expect and think you should do?
-
Do you try to be who you think you should be to make everyone around you happy?
-
Do you think family dynamics should magically be perfect on special days?
-
Do you get bent out of shape if others don’t appreciate you and your efforts the way you think they should?
-
And… Do you resent that this holiday season isn’t what it should be?
If you’ve answered YES to any of the above, you may want to drop the should’s and give yourself permission to create a new kind of holiday, one that allows you to be present and to relax and to embrace, without judgment, what is.
Happy Thanksgiving to you. We hope YOU DO YOU this holiday season and that you’re pleasantly surprised by what you create and experience.
And thank you. We are so very grateful you’ve invited us on your journey with you.
WRITING & REFLECTION:
What keeps you from fully enjoying the holidays? Where are you shoulding on yourself? And where might you be shoulding on others?
