We are all so damn busy.
How many times have you been walking through town and seen someone you haven’t seen in a while and the exchange goes something like…
“How are you?”
“Busy, Busy…”
“How are you?”
No real conversation. No real connection. And the day moves on, one do-list item at a time.
Busyness has become a badge of honor in our culture.
Somehow, we have collectively bought into the notion that busyness = productivity = success (and/or self-worth).
Here are three truths to debunk this notion:
-
Not all action is created equal. You can run around checking boxes all day long and not make any progress on the things that matter to you most. Learn to let go and say NO so that you and your priorities make it to the top of the list.
-
Success does not lead to happiness. In fact, it’s the other way around. You will be more successful in every area of your life when you are happy and well.
-
Your self-worth is not based on how much you do. It is based on you living into who you choose to be and the things YOU DECIDE are important to you.
So are you busy being too busy?
Be honest with yourself…
Nothing gets on your calendar without your permission. And no gold stars will be given at the end of the race.
You get to decide what is worthy of your precious time.
