The answer is different for everybody and it can be found in the everyday moments, the moments you might miss if you’re not paying attention. Where happiness does not reside is in the bigger house, the juicier paycheck, the skinnier jeans. Happiness is more about enjoying the present AND having some meaning and purpose to your life, a goal that you’re eagerly striving for.
Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life — the whole aim and end of human existence
~ Aristotle
I’m so pleased that the international agenda is starting to focus on happiness. In fact, the UN has adopted a resolution declaring happiness as a priority and today is the second UN International Day of Happiness. The pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal and it’s not a selfish pursuit because your happiness spills over, infecting all those around you. Your happiness is contagious and cannot be diminished by being shared. The world needs a lot more happiness, starting with you!
One of the greatest gifts you can give to those you love
is the gift of your smile.
For the past couple of years I have been studying Positive Psychology, the science of happiness, human potential and optimal wellbeing. It has changed my life in profound ways and I’m dedicating myself professionally to teaching this material and to helping women step into their power, honor their truth and create the life they want to live.
I’d like to invite you to join me on a personal mission:
- To be true to who you are
- To step into your greatness
- To commit to creating the life that YOU want to live.
Are you in? I sure hope so. There is no better time.
In honor of the International Day of Happiness I’d like to ask you to think about what makes you happy and do more of it.
For me, doing more of what makes me happy requires some rituals and scheduling: Like a walk with a girlfriend a couple of days a week, scheduling date nights with my hubby, enjoying family dinners, and time on my bike, to name a few…
What makes you happy? Give yourself something to look forward to, schedule a happiness ritual in your calendar right now!
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
