I pivoted and I persevered… I’m so damn happy that thing I thought I wanted didn’t work out!
You are so much more resilient than you think you are.
You have overcome lots of challenges.
Heck, you’ve been doing that since the day you were born.
And whether you recognize it or not, you’ve become stronger with every challenge that you’ve overcome.
In fact, some of those challenges have required you to pivot and create new (and better!) paths that you never would otherwise have explored. And that is why we want you to look at any challenge or disappointment you’re currently facing as a gift, as a life-enhancing opportunity.
Think of it this way… Your challenge isn’t happening TO you, it’s happening FOR you. And it just might be your ticket to an exciting new adventure.
Shari Salata talks about this in her wonderful book, The Beautiful NO. When Shari was devastated that her ad agency “dream job” fell through she ended up landing a small gig at the Oprah Winfrey Show. This little pivot evolved to become a 20-year career with Oprah where she served as the Executive Producer until the close of the show. Her big disappointment ultimately led to a career that was bigger and more exciting than she ever dreamed of… it had become, quite literally, her “beautiful no.”
What can you do to turn a current challenge or disappointment into a beautiful NO?
In other words, what can you create that would allow you to look back and say, “I’m so damn happy that thing I thought I wanted didn’t work out!”?
You’ve got this. And remember, It is never too late for you to pursue an exciting new dream.
